Agony, Agony, Agony

Some days you just don't have it. I suffered through my 45-min test in TT position on the Cervelo last night. I never felt comfortable, constantly looking for the right cadence and getting weaker as I went. The experience was quite unpleasant. It sucked - 228 watts (that corresponds to a FTP of 242 watts for my aggresive TT position (for a variety of reasons I can generate about 6% more power on the road). Maybe next time will be better.

Did you spend enough time warming up? I know for me if I don't get 15-20 minutes warming up on the trainer things just don't work the way they should.

Yes, I warmed up just like I had on the prior tests on other days. I think it’s just a good example of how some days you have it and some days you don't. Even if you carefully taper, manipulate your TSB, et cetera, sometimes you’re just unlucky on race day.

Totally true. There are many outside factors that could influence your performance as well. I'd not worry about it and hit it hard again in a few days.

It is the "off season" after all! :-)
